'We all need to work together to ensure the sport’s future' - Nick Mills looks back on his first year as RMG boss

Nick Mills says he has enjoyed his first 12 months as chief executive of Racecourse Media Group (RMG), during a year in which the company has renewed major deals with ITV and SIS. However, he acknowledges that both RMG and British racing more widely face "serious headwinds", especially following November's budget.
RMG is the umbrella group which manages the media rights for 37 racecourses including Goodwood, York and those under the Jockey Club banner. In 2024, shareholders received payments totalling £113 million generated from their media and data rights.
Mills has been at RMG for more than 20 years, joining what was then Racing UK in March 2005 from Coral where he had been marketing director. He was commercial director and then chief commercial officer at RMG before taking over from Martin Stevenson as chief executive in November 2024.
