It was so lovely to relive the memories of the incredible era of Vinnie Roe in the Racing Post's Great Stayers feature (May 28).

Vinnie Roe, as referenced at the end of the piece, was the product of a twin, and he was bred by my mum Virginia Moeran. I can’t overstate how much joy he gave to her during his career, and how grateful we are to Jim Sheridan for allowing us to share in the adventure along the way.

Anyone who knows Mum knows that her life has been devoted to her horses, firstly through her career as an international three-day-eventer, and later on as a small breeder in Ireland. Her devotion and passion has been life-long, unwavering and, above all, infectious. I learned so much from her growing up and if I have been lucky enough to make a career in this industry, it is all down to her.
