It looked cut and dried a month ago, but the Irish jockeys' championship has become one of the major topics of conversation in the past few weeks after Colin Keane came from an unlikely position to stalk long-time leader Shane Foley.

Their battle will provide a fascinating layer to the closing weeks of the Irish Flat season, but it has been surprising how little attention the trainers' standings have garnered.

Fair enough, the championship itself has not been much of a contest with Aidan O'Brien set to coast to a 22nd straight victory since 1999. Incredible.
