For racing to go forward, what is needed more than anything is to attract owners and, in my country, we really lack them.

They help breeders, trainers, stable staff, everybody. Getting more of them into the sport has to be the main target in France, just as it must everywhere.

That has always been the aim but we used to have those big stables in Chantilly – owned by Marcel Boussac, Francois Dupre among others – and now it’s no longer the case.
