Time for a radical overhaul of British racing's class system

The British have long been known for an obsession with class. It even seems to extend to horses, with the class system one notable difference between Britain and Ireland.

Races are divided from Class 1 for Group and Listed races down to Class 6 for the low-grade fare and, as a form student, it makes betting on British racing much more preferable to Irish racing, which has no uniform class system below Listed races and premier handicaps.

It is remarkable how often horses have a level they cannot win above, with a glance at their list of victories or record in the grade being a quick way of eliminating horses.
