The stewards' decision must be final - it's time we abolished appeals against race results

You couldn't imagine a football team appealing against a result after full-time - so why do we accept it in racing?

This is an urgent appeal to abolish appeals in racing. 

The Solness camp were the latest to challenge a decision from the raceday stewards, lodging an appeal against the outcome of the Fortria Chase at Navan this month after the favourite Found A Fifty had won by a neck. 

Found A Fifty jumped sharply to his right at the last and certainly did no favours to Solness, who finished second, but it was no surprise the winner kept the race in the stewards' room and it was even less a surprise to learn he kept it again at this week's appeal. It was an awful waste of time and money from the connection of Solness, if you ask me.
