The prolific jockey who's a shining example in how to bounce back from adversity

All jockeys have to overcome periods of adversity and the rebuilding of one Flat rider's career is an example to all in the weighing room.

For Jack Mitchell, it was adversity of a serious kind ten years ago when he tested positive for cocaine, resulting in a six-month suspension. On returning to the saddle, he then rode just eight winners across two years with fewer than 100 rides in each campaign.

Mitchell's subsequent resurgence, achieved through hard work and persistence, has seen a very healthy year-on-year rise in winners and, having recently matched last year's maiden century, his next winner will ensure a career-best domestic tally of 104. Furthermore, his £1 level-stake profit, just short of £50, far exceeds any other rider with at least 400 mounts for the year.
