The other election... and one with a far more direct bearing on racing
Scott Burton on what is at stake as French racing goes to the polls
Falling just a month after the Arc, Sunday's Prix La Haye Jousselin hat-trick for Bipolaire somewhat put a bow on the Paris autumn, with Auteuil now just a fortnight from its last action of the year, while Longchamp, Saint-Cloud and Maisons-Laffitte are already finished (in the case of Maisons-Laffitte, the length of hibernation remains unclear).
While the Polytracks at Chantilly and Deauville will keep the PMU tills turning over the winter months, much of the action heads south to Pau and Cagnes-sur-Mer.
The intrigue in the capital this November and December will be of the palace variety, with electronic voting for the quadrennial France Galop elections now in full swing.
