Andrew Franklin's letter (April 22) is absolutely spot-on. But one thing he did not mention is that the main reason for more racing and extra days is so that more media rights can be earned. This in part is the cause of the huge expansion of cards and more small fields.

Actually putting on good quality racing to encourage racegoers no longer seems to be the priority.

The Jockey Club should be driving this rather than ­continuing with its current course.
