How calls for new football regulator underline racing's own independence issues

Sports governance has been much in the news in recent days, with even British racing's current debate about its structure somewhat eclipsed by the report published last week following a review of English football.

The Independent Fan Led Review of Football Governance was chaired by Tracey Crouch MP, a politician well known in racing and betting industry circles, although probably with more fondness in the former than the latter.

Examples from sports such as racing do not get a mention within the 162 pages of Crouch's review, which might not be a surprise given the widespread dissatisfaction being voiced with British racing's structure.
