bet365's Pat Cooney and Jamie Gormley also give their verdicts
What did you make of Young Rascal’s Newbury win on his first start since the Derby?
Pat Cooney, bet365 odds compiler He handled the soft ground better than Mirage Dancer in second, so the bare form doesn’t excite me, but I don’t suppose he’ll be running over 11 furlongs again as he looks as though he’ll stay a lot further. I’d rather assess him when he moves up in trip in better class, but he’ll always need soft ground to be at his best, given his high knee action.
Keith Dalgleish, trainer He looked beat, but he rallied close to home to lead. He seems comfortable in those softer conditions, which he will probably get next time on Arc weekend, and the step up in trip will suit. I think he’s got more left in the tank, and I think we’ll see the best of him when he steps up in trip.
Jamie Gormley, jockey I thought it was a tactical race, it ended up in a sprint. He was always travelling the best in that ground up the home straight. He did really well to win the race, considering it wasn’t really run to suit and would have won more comfortably if the race had been run at an even gallop.
