There was some quality racing at Newbury last Wednesday but rather than the victories of Grand National hope Magic Of Light or smart novice hurdler Lecale's Article lingering in the memory, a 250-1 shot beaten more than 70 lengths is the horse who sticks in the mind.

That's because the performance of Beaufort in Lecale's Article's race was the one that created the headlines after the stewards on the day deemed he had been schooled in public, suspending the horse from running for 40 days, rider Gavin Sheehan for 14 and hitting trainer Warren Greatrex with a £3,000 fine.
