Racing League needs mainstream television coverage if it is going to succeed

Racing is not the only sport where new ideas can be met with suspicion or even downright hostility, something to which the organisers of cricket's The Hundred would surely attest.

When that competition was first proposed one would have thought it was set to cause the foundations of the Lord's Pavilion to crumble given the vehemence of some of the reaction.

Perhaps unsurprisingly the sport of cricket has indeed survived the inaugural campaign of the competition which ended last weekend.
