The next few weeks look set to be pivotal to British racing's hopes of securing better and sustainable funding for the sport.

More news of how the government plans to replace the levy next year is expected to come from sports minister Tracey Crouch at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, although whether that will be a verdict on a rate or just more detail on the new structure depends on who you talk to.

At the same time, talks on the statutory levy scheme have started even though the government has pledged it will not be needed from April 1.
