Life in the weighing room can be a fickle business at times, a place where one person's misfortune is another one's opportunity.
Take Ryan Mania. The Grand National-winning jockey will be looking ahead to the core jumps season with extra relish after strengthening his reunion with Sue and Harvey Smith. That is because the Smiths' long-standing stable jockey Danny Cook was forced to retire on medical grounds this month after a horror fall at Market Rasen nearly a year ago left him with multiple facial injuries and impaired vision.
