No more excuses: why new power might become a double-edged sword for the BHA

The agreement of a new governance structure for British racing should mean there are now no excuses for the BHA to make progress on a plan to address the many challenges facing the sport.

It might not end up being as simple as that, though, and the new structure will test the extent to which the many and varied groups that make up British racing are prepared to put aside their individual interests for the greater good.

The changes announced on Monday were certainly required if the industry strategy work launched in recent weeks is to produce major changes.
