Anybody expecting fireworks from new BHA chair Annamarie Phelps's first public speech since joining the governing body at the start of June would have been disappointed on Tuesday.

Quite right too. Speaking to the Racehorse Owners Association's annual meeting a little more than four weeks after taking up the role would not have been the right time to start throwing haymakers.

The speech covered a lot of ground, including introducing herself to those unfamiliar with her background as an Olympian and in sports governance, her previous experience of horseracing and her impressions since joining the BHA.
