Is there a threat to Blue Point for champion sprinter?
Pat Cooney, bet365 head of PR Unlikely. After all he did beat Dream Of Dreams at Ascot, so if he won the July Cup that would only strengthen Blue Point’s claims. I doubt if any runner today will progress enough to be considered, so it’s up to Battaash to go unbeaten for the rest of the season but he has no room for error.
Nick Luck, Racing TV presenter There is nothing of Blue Point’s calibre in the July Cup, but I think his King’s Stand form might yet be franked because Fairyland wasn’t beaten all that far in fifth and with all the allowances I think she makes a fair bit of appeal at a decent price, particularly stepping back up to six furlongs.
