My sales experience highlights why we must do more to improve standards

Something extraordinary happened to me at the sales last year. Well, I would like to think it’s extraordinary, otherwise there is more to worry about than I thought there was.
I was offered a bribe to purchase a horse. There is no other way of putting it and I can be that black and white about it, even if I still find myself being quite taken aback by that fact.
It happened when I was viewing a potential horse to buy and the viewing started the same as any other. I asked to see the horse that myself and a friend wanted to inspect and the filly was retrieved by a diligent and pleasant groom.
