Move over Henderson - Derby trio could have the village jumping for joy
James Burn looks forward to a big day for Lambourn trainers at Epsom on Saturday
Jumping's return at Southwell on Wednesday is a welcome relief for many in the village and even though champion trainer Nicky Henderson is not represented on the bill, it will not be long before he is fielding some summer runners.
However, while Henderson, Fulke Walwyn, Fred Winter and Jenny Pitman among others helped Lambourn become synonymous with top-class jumping, it is Flat racing's most prestigious event that is at the forefront of minds this week with three live hopes for Saturday's Investec Derby in the area.
They are headed by the promising Lingfield Derby Trial winner English King, whose trainer Ed Walker was a Newmarket nomad before making Lambourn his home in December 2016.
