Maddy Playle: three stories you may have missed after a week of British racing
In some ways things seem the same as they always were. The John Gosden production line has delivered its first wave of budding champions, Mark Johnston is firing in juvenile winners with clinical efficiency and, of course, Aidan O'Brien is still farming Classics. But away from the headlines, there have been other interesting stories to note from the first week of racing.
After breaking the British record for the number of wins in a year by a female jockey last season, Hollie Doyle has made a mighty start to the delayed campaign. She returned to action on Tuesday and was quickly into her stride, riding a double for Archie Watson at Newcastle and another at Yarmouth the following day.
Her partner Tom Marquand made headlines on Friday when coasting to Derby Trial success aboard English King, but Doyle was not to be outshone and partnered another three winners.
