We are only a few weeks into the jumps season proper, but already it is taking a pretty familiar shape on the domestic front.

A year ago, Noel Meade won the Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal with Road To Respect, and he repeated the feat this time around. In 2018, Willie Mullins took the Morgiana Hurdle with a lesser fancied Rich and Susannah Ricci-owned Sharjah.

Roll the clock forward 12 months, and Mullins farmed a ninth successive victory – and tenth in all – in the race in similar fashion, with Saldier stealing Klassical Dream’s thunder under Danny Mullins at Punchestown.
