The Betfair Chase was a belter, wasn't it? It finished exactly the way the sponsors would have wanted. The new kid on the block knocking out the heavyweight Haydock champion on the run-in.

The winner is now favourite for the Magners Gold Cup at Cheltenham and firmly on course for the £1 million triple crown bonus. You cannot ask for much more than that; or maybe we could.

There were four runners in Saturday's big race and Lostintranslation was the only one of the four shorter than 33-1 for the Gold Cup before the tape rose. You can now back both Bristol De Mai and Frodon at 50-1 to win the big one in March, while Ballyoptic is 100-1.
