In the aftermath of another big handicap success on Saturday, Karl Burke summed it up perfectly when he said his stable has not had many bad weeks this season.

Winning the Cambridgeshire with topweight Liberty Lane seven days on from Lethal Levi leading home a sensational one-two-three for the trainer in the Ayr Gold Cup made it a very good week indeed.

Burke sits fourth in the British trainers' championship, directly above Charlie Appleby and John and Thady Gosden, having taken his prize-money haul for the year to more than £3.3 million. He has fared notably well on his travels too, gaining a first Classic success in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, the usual glut of Group winners in France, as well as Ireland, and victory in the German 1,000 Guineas.
