It is that fun time of year when dreams are crushed. 

Perhaps those 200-1 and 100-1 winners on Champions Day should have clued us in to the fact predictability was rapidly going out the window and the age of uncertainty was upon us, because the past month has become something of a guessing game for punters as the seasons change. 

There have been the setbacks, namely Galopin Des Champs and Caldwell Potter, and there have been the sobering disappointments, with Golden Ace and The Real Whacker some of the latest to have tried and failed to start their seasons with a bang at Wetherby on Saturday.
