Jonathan Burke, Philip Hobbs and Tom Bellamy review the weekend action
How will Ascot Chase winner Riders Onthe Storm do in the Ryanair Chase?
Tom Bellamy, jockey We don’t know what would have happened if Traffic Fluide had stood up at the last on Saturday but Riders Onthe Storm still beat a decent benchmark in the 164-rated Janika with plenty in hand. I reckon he’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the Ryanair, especially as they’ll go a decent pace with the likes of Min in there.
Jonathan Burke, jockey Traffic Fluide was arguably coming to beat him, but he did gallop to the line and might have found more when challenged. I’ve been very impressed with him all season and I think the tempo of a festival race will allow him to settle better. He’s three from three since joining Nigel Twiston-Davies and looks the best of the Brits in the Ryanair.
Kane Calvin, Redzone I’m a big fan of the horse but you have to wonder whether that gruelling race on Saturday will have left its mark for Cheltenham. I think his festival chances actually diminished by winning at the weekend.
