Four horses you must back this weekend - courtesy of my raid on our stable tours
At least some of you were paying attention. La Malmason was as big as 12-1 last Saturday night but that didn't last long and she was supported all the way down to 5-1 before winning the mares' maiden hurdle at Cork on Sunday. Somebody knew.
Yes, you did. Only a few days earlier Gavin Cromwell told you this about the filly in his Racing Post stable tour: "She's by Walk In The Park and is an unraced half-sister to Stage Star. She's a filly I like a lot and will enjoy the winter ground. She's showing me plenty at home and we'll go straight over hurdles."
Stable tours are a pain in the backside for trainers and typers. Between names, ages, breeding, owners, form and ratings, there is a lot of spade work to be done by the reporter before anything gets on to the page.
