It's the weekend of the season - and the PR gurus probably aren't ready for it
Adayar, Hurricane Lane, Poetic Flare, Snowfall, St Mark's Basilica, Tarnawa, Wonderful Tonight. How's that for an equine cast over the weekend?
With due respect navto the sprinters and milers, racing in Europe is all about big races over ten and 12 furlongs, and sick-notes will have to come thick and fast to stop this being the biggest confluence of stars all season. Even Arc weekend will struggle to attract so many of them.
The Irish Champion Stakes, featuring Poetic Flare, St Mark's Basilica and Tarnawa, is a belter in its own right. It may lack the depth of an Arc but Adayar, Snowfall, Tarnawa and Wonderful Tonight must first make it to Paris for the Arc to deliver on its promise. There's many a slip twixt cup and lip, whereas the Irish Champion Stakes is the here and now. Throw in the prospect of some highly informative juvenile contests and we are set for a riveting weekend.
