The exceptional Supreme Novices' winner has become the new emblem of the village, although these days it seems to have moved away from the powerbase of jump racing it is best known for.
When I recently asked former jockey and ITV broadcaster Luke Harvey – sad loss to the region following his move to Gloucestershire – if he'd ever known Lambourn to be more Flat-centric, he replied: "Never."
