It's not the Galway Races, it's just racing at Galway - and more like a wake

The Sunday Independent sports editor John Greene tweeted on Wednesday: "Seems the only place in Galway that won't be packed for the Galway Races will be the racecourse."
And, with that, I burst into booking.com to see whether he was right. Let's find out if there's much accommodation available for Ballybrit's biggest week of the year, shall we?
The Connacht Hotel? Nothing. The G Hotel? Nothing until the final day of the festival. I could stay that night on my own for €309 (£264). The Galmont, or the Radisson as it was? Well, I could put my head on a pillow there next Sunday and Monday night, but there is only an executive suite left and it would cost me €900. Not enough of you read this column for me to be able to afford a plush pillow like that.
