It won't work! Running Tiger in Grade 1s is as pointless as it is inexplicable
Tiger Roll’s participation in the Betway Bowl at Aintree was inexplicable and ignominious for many reasons but the sheer pointlessness of this Grade 1 charade is worth stressing.
At the time of writing, Gigginstown House Stud’s dual Grand National hero still holds entries in another Grade 1, the Ladbrokes Gold Cup at Punchestown, and Saturday’s bet365 Oaksey Chase, also a top-class conditions chase despite being just a Grade 2.
Whether he takes up either engagement remains to be seen but, if he did happen to, it would almost certainly be as fruitless an exercise as his Aintree venture. Just how futile this whole escapade is has possibly been lost a little in the general furore.
