I'm happy to be proved wrong as Ahoy Senor gets it so right
After a difficult first half of the season for Ahoy Senor, everything clicked into place in Saturday's Cotswold Chase – and a huge amount of credit must go to Lucinda Russell and her team.
For all the emotion the victory brought following the death of Russell's father Peter, also a part-owner of Ahoy Senor, a few days earlier, it was a wholly satisfying one as a horse with a rare talent got his career back on track.
Like many, I have followed Ahoy Senor intently since he burst on to the scene by winning the Sefton Hurdle at Aintree in 2021. There were highs and lows last season, both as a fan and punter, in following this brute of a horse, but this campaign had not gone according to plan.
