Left-leaning Jonbon shows Willie Mullins isn’t right all the time

Pro punter Mark Holder provides his dose of punting wisdom in his final column of the jump season

Willie Mullins is a genius racehorse trainer and, by all accounts, a thoroughly decent and likeable man. I take my hat off to him for securing his second consecutive British trainers’ championship. It made the end of the jumps season compelling viewing – even people I know who barely follow the sport have been wanting to talk about it over the past few weeks.

However, he’s not right about everything. After Gaelic Warrior’s victory, Mullins told Tom Stanley on Racing TV: "I don't get caught up in whether they jump left or right as other people do." 

Really, Willie? You're missing a trick there. It’s something that deserves far more attention.
