How I amazed the great Geoff Lewis on the golf course - before settling in for a round of ridicule

Racing lost a couple of legends this week in Geoff Lewis and Bruce Raymond and, while I never met the latter, I did once have the honour of partnering Lewis in a 36-hole golf event just over 30 years ago.

The great man showed his competitive spirit from the off and managed to get excited after an opening hole (foursomes) in which I somehow managed to hit the green and he sank a 20-foot putt for birdie.

"We can f***ing win this if we play like that," he said.
