Councillor Simon Cole (Letters, March 25) states that the development at Hatchfield Farm will benefit Newmarket and racing.

Of course, Mr Cole is entitled to his opinion, but Newmarket Horsemen’s Group strongly contests this view, as we have done for many years.

We fear the decline of Epsom as a training establishment provides a regrettable example of what could happen if national planning policies and housing targets are applied to a town that is home to 3,000 racehorses.
