The 2025 Cheltenham Festival was a Wodhooh away from being a blackout for Gordon Elliott. It was last orders – the Martin Pipe – when he finally got served some sort of tonic but, all told, it was a wretched week for the Cullentra camp. 

Something he said the following week has stuck with me ever since. 

"All I think about every night when I go to bed is, 'What could I have done differently? What could I have changed? How can we improve?' Every day you go racing, or every day you go down the gallop, if you don't think you can do something different you may as well give up. You shouldn't be doing it."
