Godolphin's World Cup joy bodes well for the year's more meaningful missions

One cannot love everything.

Although a huge fan of top international Flat racing, neither Dubai's carnival nor its World Cup card crescendo rank among my personal favourites. Yet consistently absorbing have been the dramas associated with the racing operation created to represent Dubai. On Saturday that operation had a fabulous night. We should hope it is an indication of what is to come.

All too often in recent years Godolphin has made its biggest headlines not for successes achieved on the racecourse but because of events that have unfolded away from the track.
