Epsom results cheered in Chester as track gets welcome fillip after last year's freak incident

Ballydoyle aside, there would not have been many places where the results of the Derby and Oaks were celebrated more than at Chester.
Britain's oldest racecourse received a major boost after Lambourn and Minnie Hauk, trial winners at the May meeting, went on to claim Epsom glory last weekend. Producing one Classic winner would have been great, but to get them both was a real fillip.
Lambourn did not set the world alight in a hard-fought success in the Chester Vase last month, but he showed the benefit of that experience in his runaway Derby victory. The Vase also provided the Derby runner-up as Lazy Griff again chased home the winner at Epsom.
