Cheveley Park choices underline the lure of Ireland's powerhouse stables

For some time now the balance of power in jump racing has rested with Ireland, to the extent that so many major British jumps winners have also had considerable Irish influence, be that through Irish-bred horses, Irish-born or Irish-based jockeys and Irish owners, not least JP McManus.

Increasingly, though, British owners are having an ever greater influence in Ireland – and it merely underlines the strength of the sport in that nation.

This particular pudding's proof comes in the form of Cheveley Park Stud, arguably the most British of bloodstock operations.
