It did not require a Saturday eight-timer from Paul Nicholls to reinforce the belief the best of times are returning to his Manor Farm Stables.

Clan Des Obeaux’s victory confirmed Nicholls had a frontline candidate for the Gold Cup; and in Cyrname he now has the highest rated jumper in Britain.

Sadly, Cyrname's predilection for racing right-handed means we will not see him at Cheltenham next month. Yet even with injury claiming Dynamite Dollars from the Arkle, Nicholls looks likely to emerge from the festival with his lead in the trainers' championship intact.
