Horsemen must dig in their heels at Arc's apparent demand for more racing

In a single day the announcement that Royal Ascot will be allowed attendances of 12,000 and Dominic Cummings' appearance before a House of Commons select committee served as a reminder of one truth: there is invariably much more going on behind the scenes than we realise.

Often we know something is taking place but exactly what that something is remains a mystery.

Like Aaron Burr in the hit musical Hamilton, there are times when we might desperately want to be in the room where it happens. In the case of the negotiations between the Horsemen's Group and Arena Racing Company over commercial agreements, it seems rather more of the Horsemen's Group's members perhaps need to be in that room.
