Calls for levy funds may meet hurdles down the line

British racing is enjoying a period of relative prosperity thanks to the government's reform of the levy system and not surprisingly the calls are increasing for a share of those additional funds.

Extra prize-money has been funnelled towards the sport's grassroots to general approval and now more ideas are emerging as to where the money can be spent.

BHA chief executive Nick Rust has recently said some of the additional levy would be well spent on promoting betting on the sport.
