As racing's governance gets a reset, the ROA and Thoroughbred Group need one too

Major changes to the way British racing is governed may finally be agreed over the next six weeks but there are still some nagging issues that need to be resolved.

BHA chair Joe Saumarez Smith told Racing TV's Luck on Sunday programme that reforms which would allow the governing body to make "tough decisions" would go before its board in October and then the Thoroughbred Group and the Racecourse Association (RCA) for approval.

A new governance system which reduces the likelihood of deadlock between British racing's three main powerbrokers is a vital foundation for the industry strategy talks taking place this week.
