Open weekend comes up trumps as Cosgrave laughs at 'the joker'

Newmarket proved the old adage that less is more on day two of the 32Red-sponsored Open Weekend, which proved another resounding success from start to finish.

Even though the after-effects of the summer virus halved the number of stables involved, those that were open not surprisingly were kept busier than ever throughout the morning, while the day reached an exciting climax with Pat Cosgrave winning the showjumping contest.

Visitors came from as far afield as Ireland, Scotland and North Wales to look behind the scenes at the hub of Flat racing, with many finding the schedule a bit easier than in previous years.
