One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday
Trainer
Simon and Ed Crisford are in red-hot form and have four key chances at Lingfield and Chelmsford to continue that fine run, including Algiers in the Listed Quebec Stakes (3.33).
The five-year-old was not beaten far in a Listed race over course-and-distance last month and is a short-priced favourite to go one better under Jack Mitchell.
The Crisfords also saddle Laser Guided and Wigmore Street in the mile novice (12.40), as well as Baahill in the 6f maiden at Chelmsford (3.45) as they bid to enhance their impressive 33 per cent strike-rate over the last fortnight.
Jockey
British champion Flat jockey William Buick is still firing in the winners as the year comes to an end and partners some leading hopes as he bids to continue his fine campaign.
Buick, who is operating at a 24 per cent strike-rate, has five rides on Lingfield's card, including Harrovian for John and Thady Gosden in the Listed Quebec Stakes (3.33).
His best chance of a winner could come with Queen Of Ipanema in the Winter Oaks Trial (3.00), who bids for a remarkable six-timer on the all-weather. His other mounts include Obsidian Knight (12.05), Golden Speech (12.40) and Bethersden Boy (1.15).
Horse
Queen Of Ipanema has been a rapid improver on the all-weather this winter and bids for a stunning sixth win in succession in just under two months in the Winter Oaks Trial (3.00).
The daughter of Teofilo struggled on her first three starts but has thrived since switching to handicap company, which started with victory at Wolverhampton on October 29.
She has gone up a staggering 31lb since then and aims for a career-best victory under Buick in her attempt to bring up the dozen.
Race
The Listed Quebec Stakes (3.33) at Lingfield is the day's only pattern race and stages an intriuging rematch between Algiers and Harrovian.
The pair were no match for Missed The Cut in the Churchill Stakes over course-and-distance last month but do not have to face that rival this time, with Algiers favoured to come out on top.
However, they also have to worry about course-and-distance winners Makinmedoit and 2021 Winter Derby winner Forest Of Dean.
