One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch at Goodwood on Thursday

Aidan O'Brien: has three leading chances on Thursday
1 of 1

One trainer

It will be an interesting afternoon for Aidan O'Brien and his powerful squadron heading to the South Downs. He runs the globetrotting Magic Wand in the Nassau Stakes (3.15) and, with a wealth of good performances at the top table to her name, she is a leading contender in the Group 1 feature.

Japan's younger brother Mogul is given another test of his quality in the Gordon Stakes (2.45) and takes on English King and Khalifa Sat, who finished ahead of him in the Derby earlier this month.

Mogul: looks to bounce back in the Gordon Stakes

Completing the O'Brien trio, Admiral Nelson (2.15) runs in the Richmond having disappointed when sent off favourite in the Coventry.

One jockey

Jim Crowley builds up to a fantastic Friday, where he partners the outstanding sprinter Battaash, with a solid book of rides on the card.

In the Nassau Stakes, Crowley teams up with the John Gosden-trained Nazeef. The four-year-old has won her last six starts, including three this season, and won the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes earlier this month.

Al Aasy: winner of the Bahrain Trophy last time

Also in the Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum silks, Crowley partners Qaader – a leading player in the Group 2 Richmond Stakes – and Gordon Stakes contender Al Aasy. That runner stayed on bravely to win at this level in the Bahrain Trophy last time.

Crowley also teams up with the progressive Al Salt in the 1m2f handicap (1.45) that kicks off ITV's coverage.

One horse

Iconic Queen is a half-sister to Arabian Queen, the 50-1 conqueror of Golden Horn in the 2015 Juddmonte International, and shaped like she had plenty of class on her debut.

She was a tad keen that day but ran a fine race to finish a promising third. She could take a big step forward in this intriguing fillies' maiden (4.20) for Ralph Beckett and Harry Bentley.

One race

The Group 1 Nassau Stakes is packed full of classy fillies and mares and – as we saw on Wednesday – it will be interesting to see how this year's three-year-old generation compares with their elders.

Fancy Blue: makes her first start since her French Oaks win for Donnacha O'Brien

Fancy Blue comes here off the back of victory in the French Oaks but she takes on a host established top-level mares in the form of Nazeef, Deirdre and Magic Wand.
