Trainer

Paul Nicholls has had the most winners at Wincanton every season since the 2010-11 campaign, and the trainer looks to continue that hot streak as he sends ten to the course on Saturday.

Among those runners is Present Man, who is seeking a hat-trick in the Badger Beers Silver Trophy (3.35), and also has strong chances in the two Graded races with If You Say Run in the Rising Stars novice chase (2.25) and Grand Sancy (3.00).

Jockey

Brian Hughes has emerged as a surprise contender for the jump jockeys' championship and looks to close in on reigning champion Richard Johnson with five fancied rides at Aintree.

His day gets under way on the Rebecca Curtis-trained Joueur Bresilien, who won last time out and looks to follow up in the 2m4f novice handicap chase (12.20), before teaming up with Charmant in the 2m handicap chase (1.30), winner of three of his five starts last season.

Duke Street is his partner for the 2m4f handicap chase (2.05), having won his last three, before finishing the day with Jacks Last Hope (2.40) and Let Me Be (3.50).

Horse

Dan Skelton's stable star Roksana makes her seasonal bow in the 2m4f hurdle at Aintree (3.15) after a highly promising end to last term.

The seven-year-old came out on top in the Mares' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival before being beaten only a head by If The Cap Fits in the Liverpool Hurdle.

Now she returns to the course bidding to right that wrong but faces stiff competition from 2017 Scilly Isles scorer Top Notch and Vision Des Flos, who beat If The Cap Fits at Fontwell in February.

Race

The Elite Hurdle at Wincanton (3.00) has attracted only six runners but it looks to be quality over quantity with some top contenders set to line up.

Fusil Raffles attempts to build on his high potential for Nicky Henderson after roaring clear in a Grade 2 at Kempton on his stable debut before downing Fakir D'Oudairies in the Champion Four Year Old Hurdle at the Punchestown festival in May.

Among the other runners is Beat The Judge, second to Fusil Raffles in that Kempton race and a long-odds runner-up in a Listed race last time out, as well as the Paul Nicholls-trained Grand Sancy, who has won his last two starts at Wincanton, including the Grade 2 Kingwell Hurdle ahead of Sceau Royal.
