One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to follow at Punchestown
Trainer
Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott are unsurprisingly mob-handed on day one of the Punchestown festival but will face a strong challenge from Henry de Bromhead.
The trainer has six runners on the card, including Ordinary World in the Grade 1 BoyleSports Champion Chase (5.30).
De Bromhead also sends out exciting Close Brothers winner A Plus Tard, who is reunited with Rachael Blackmore in the Dooley Insurance Group Champion Novice Chase (6.40).
Jockey
Ruby Walsh has a high-quality book of rides at the festival beginning aboard Supreme winner Klassical Dream in the Grade 1 Herald Champion Novice Hurdle (4.20).
Walsh then looks to have a leading chance in the feature Champion Chase with Min, who sets the standard after bouncing back in the Melling Chase at Aintree. And he ends the day riding Getabird in the Champion Novice Chase as the seven-year-old makes his first start since December.
Horse
Champagne Platinum looks an intriguing contender stepping up to Graded company for the first time in the Champion Novice Hurdle for Nicky Henderson.
The unbeaten five-year-old has only made two starts under rules and was last seen winning at Newbury in December.
His trainer has a fair record at Punchestown with 21 winners at a strike-rate of 14 per cent.
Race
Despite only having six runners, the €300,000 Champion Chase looks an interesting contest with two Willie Mullins-trained stars heading the market.
Min looks the one to beat after his win at Aintree, but he was disappointing when fifth in the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
Un De Sceaux similarly struggled when fifth in the Ryanair but won this race last year, while Hell's Kitchen represents the British challenge for trainer Harry Fry.
