One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to follow at Del Mar on Saturday
Trainer
Aidan O'Brien is typically well represented on the second day of the Breeders' Cup and the market suggests his best chance of the night is with Love in the Filly & Mare Turf (8.59), a race he has never won.
The four-year-old, who won the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot this season, bids to bounce back after a three straight defeats. She was most recently seen finishing second in the Blandford Stakes.
O'Brien is also represented by dual Group 1 winner Mother Earth, who landed the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket and appears to have a solid chance in the Breeders' Cup Mile (10.20) under Ryan Moore.
Jockey
William Buick is no stranger to riding fancied runners in international races and his strong book of rides includes Space Blues, the likely favourite for the Breeders' Cup Mile after his Prix de la Foret success.
Buick will also partner Godolphin's Yibir in the Breeders' Cup Turf (11.40) and the James Fanshawe-trained Audarya, who bids for back-to-back victories in the Filly & Mare Turf after winning by a neck last season.
Horse
Tarnawa was narrowly denied in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last month but all will be forgotten if she strikes in the Breeders' Cup Turf.
The five-year-old has been one of the stars of the season for Dermot Weld, winning the Ballyroan Stakes at Leopardstown before losing out to St Mark's Basilica in a competitive Irish Champion Stakes.
She heads to Del Mar in search of back-to-back Breeders' Cup wins after winning this race last year at Keeneland.
One race
Bob Baffert has won the Breeders' Cup Classic (12.40) four times, including with Arrogate and Maximum Security, and he sends out Medina Spirit, a controversial winner of the Kentucky Derby.
The high-quality field also includes Knicks Go and Essential Quality, who will bid to provide trainer Brad Cox with his first Classic. They both won at last year's Breeders' Cup, at which Cox had four wins.
