Old foes Native River and Might Bite dominate line-up at Aintree
Old adversaries Native River and Might Bite dominate the final field for the Grade 2 Virgin Bet Many Clouds Chase at Aintree on Saturday.
The first and second from the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup face two other rivals in the 3m1f contest, with Black Corton, who concedes 6lb to the field, and Outlander completing the line-up.
Aso and Top Notch had also featured among the entries for the Aintree contest but will instead line up in Sunday’s Grade 2 Fitzdares Peterborough Chase.
Six runners will go to post for the 2m4f contest at Huntingdon headed by La Bague Au Roi, who will be aiming to bounce back from a disappointing reappearance in the Charlie Hall Chase.
Presenting Percy will also be attempting to return to his best form at Punchestown on Sunday after featuring among the final nine for the Grade 1 John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase.
Off since finishing a well-beaten favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March, Presenting Percy takes on Min, Anibale Fly, Shattered Love and Snow Falcon in the 2m4f contest.
A field of seven will contest the Grade 1 Betfair Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at Sandown on Saturday, with trainer Dan Skelton responsible for two of the runners in Nube Negra and Beakstown.
Opposition to the Skelton pair comes from former Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Summerville Boy, Esprit Du Large, Return Ticket, Torpillo and Grand Sancy, who is set to make his debut over fences in the Grade 1 contest.
